Important January Dates for Students
Greg Hatzis

Dear Falcon Families,

We hope this finds you well rested after the holiday break. Here’s to a great 2020 for you and your family.  This post is to bring your attention to some important dates during the month of January.

Tuesday, January 14:   There will be no school for students on 1/14/2020 due to the town’s scheduling of a special election.  After-school activities may be scheduled by coaches or advisors.

January 17, 21, 22, 23:  As we near the end of the Term 2, semester-length courses will be administering the final exam for the course on either January 17, 21, 22, or 23.  The grade on these assessments will represent twenty-percent of the final mark in that course.

A special schedule has been created in order to provide students with a two-hour exam block that mirrors second semester finals, which is illustrated on a separate post on teh website.  Please note that Friday, January 17, 2020 is an early release day with dismissal at 11:45.  January 21-23 are full days with longer periods (a.k.a. “super blocks”) built in.  Full-year courses will meet as regularly scheduled during the super-blocks.  Some AP classes may use the block to administer practice-test exercises, but otherwise we are asking full-year course teachers to be sensitive about scheduling assessments during this time.

Monday, January 27 will be the last day of Semester 1/Term 2, Semester 2 will begin on Tuesday, January 28.   We will be finalizing all Term 2 grades and posting senior semester grades to transcripts on February 3.

Wednesday, January 29 is Course Selection Night.  This is a night designed to provide parents information to help their children navigate the course selection process.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or school counselor with any questions or concerns.
